OUR STORY

Shameka and Asha Lavigne 

Creole is the non-Anglo-Saxon culture and lifestyle that flourished in Louisiana before it was sold to the United States in 1803 and that continued to dominate South Louisiana until the early decades of the 20th century. Until then, native birth in Louisiana, the French language and Roman Catholicism were the benchmarks for identity.

Culturally, influences from three groups, namely, west Europeans, west Africans, along with significant input from Native Americans combined to become Louisiana Creole culture. -- Laura Plantation

Baking delicious cakes from scratch is a must in the Lavigne household. Mother-daughter duo, Shameka and Asha, take pride in every delectable dessert made to order. Shameka learned how to bake from her mother, whom learned from her mother. Shameka's mother is an experienced home baker that would bake for the community. She only baked from scratch and she passed that passion on to Shameka, whom passed it down to her daughter, Asha.  Shameka started at a young age helping her mom in the kitchen baking delicious desserts for family and friends. Soon she started doing the baking with guidance from her mom. Now for the holidays, family and friends come to devour whatever mouthwatering dessert Shameka has prepared.
